URL: https://leal.st/work/freitag Year: 2026 Services: Website Live project: https://freitag.agency FREITAG is the AI-driven audiovisual production arm of Montag School, in São Paulo. They arrived without a fixed idea of what the site should be, and stayed open through the whole exploration. The direction came out of that: a site that would prove what the agency claims, by being used. A portfolio grid is built to be scanned and compared. That is the right shape when people arrive by searching. FREITAG's audience arrives by a link the agency sends, so the site does something else: there is no grid and there are no pages. The whole studio is a single navigable space, and each project is a place inside it. There is no transition between pages because there are none to transition between. The same argument runs one layer down, in the surface. The visual language leans on computed effects: ordered dither, halftone, type that scrambles before it settles. Things read as made rather than captured. None of it costs the practical part. Every state has its own address, so a single project can be sent to a single client, and the back button behaves. The team publishes it themselves. Cases, images, the opening film and client logos all come from a panel, with no code involved. ### VG+A — Architecture rooted in context, material, and time. The main goal was to connect the brand with startups and the technology ecosystem, differentiating it from traditional law firms and establishing it as a reference within this niche. Our solution translated Aoto & Novak’s core values of innovation, strategic expertise, and partnership into a sophisticated visual and verbal identity, incorporating the Doppler Effect concept into the logo. The project culminated in the development of a corporate website that materializes this new positioning, optimized to communicate the firm’s expertise and forward-thinking approach. Team: Leonardo Leal, Susan Machado ### FEPE — Inclusive education for youth and adults with special needs. URL: https://leal.st/work/diadia Year: 2023 Services: Service The Diadia project was born out of the need to fill a significant gap in the education of young people and adults with intellectual disabilities. Until then, there were virtually no didactic materials designed for this audience, forcing teachers to improvise with children’s games. Focusing on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), the name “Diadia” reflects its purpose: teaching practical skills that go beyond the classroom, promoting independence and quality of life. The project emphasizes health and well-being, addressing essential daily activities such as bathing, a simple yet fundamental practice for the target audience. In addition to creating an interactive platform, Diadia was designed as a sustainable system. A strategic service blueprint was developed to allow third parties to continue improving and expanding the platform, ensuring ongoing growth and unlimited enhancement. Diadia is not just an educational tool: it is a step toward inclusion, fostering autonomy and well-being for an audience that deserves dedicated attention. Team: Emanuel Luciano, Gabriel Peron, Leonardo Cordeiro, Leonardo Leal, Susan Machado, Welington Martins ### Glass — Shaped by nature, crafted in Brazil. URL: https://leal.st/work/glass Year: 2024 Services: Branding, Web In this project, we developed a complete branding, website, and brand management system for Glass Diamond, a Brazilian experimental jewelry brand aimed at a young audience passionate about fashion, art, and design. The challenge was to create an identity that conveyed luxury and boldness while reflecting the brand’s concept, inspired by raw rocks and minerals. The core idea stems from the transformation of matter, where diamonds are born from magma and glass is formed from sand, making the name Glass Diamond a metaphor for potential and contrast. We designed a custom logotype with letterforms drawn from scratch and developed a flexible, conceptual visual identity that distinguishes the brand in the market and ensures consistency across all touchpoints. Design and Art Direction: Luciano Smythe ### Hayashi — Financial education that empowers. URL: https://leal.st/work/hayashi Year: 2024 Services: Website Live project: https://educfinanceiralibertadora.com.br/ We were responsible for the complete development of Hayashi’s website, a financial education platform led by André Hayashi, a specialist with over 25 years of experience in the market. André is a lecturer, MBA and postgraduate coordinator in Finance and Financial Market Management at FAE, as well as a professor in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the same institution. Our challenge was to translate his extensive knowledge and authority into a digital environment that feels intuitive, modern, and accessible. We created a website with simple and organized navigation, highlighting courses for different levels of expertise, personalized consulting services, and content focused on financial independence. Visual Identity and Art Direction: Luciano Smythe Motion and UI Design: Susan Machado Web and Motion Development: Leonardo Leal ### Epifania — The impact of fashion on our oceans. URL: https://leal.st/work/epifania Year: 2023 Services: Web, Editorial Epifania is a project that seeks to raise awareness about the effects of the fashion industry on marine ecosystems. Combining research, aesthetics, and social engagement, the project transforms data and reflection into a visual experience that invites action. As part of its dissemination strategy, we developed an editorial website that presents the research in an accessible and impactful way. The layout was designed to highlight the written content, emphasize the urgency of the topic, and create an emotional connection with the audience. More than just informing, the website was built to provoke, a space where design and activism meet to inspire reflection. --- ## Notes ### A portfolio with no pages: how the FREITAG site is built URL: https://leal.st/articles/portfolio-with-no-pages Full text: https://leal.st/md/articles/portfolio-with-no-pages.md Published: 2026-08-12 · Updated: 2026-08-12 Topic: Engineering Leal built the FREITAG portfolio as a single document: one WebGL scene, four overlays, and no page loads at all. Projects are places inside a dome you fly through. Every state still pushes its own URL, so a single project can be sent to a single client and the back button behaves. ### AI site builders got very good at the part you can see URL: https://leal.st/articles/ai-site-builders-the-part-you-can-see Full text: https://leal.st/md/articles/ai-site-builders-the-part-you-can-see.md Published: 2026-08-11 · Updated: 2026-08-11 Topic: Engineering AI site builders now ship working pages in minutes, and that part is real. What they did not improve is everything underneath. Veracode measured syntax pass rates climbing from 50% to 95% while security stayed flat at 55%. Leal reads that as one sentence: they got better at the visible half only. ### What changes when you own your site's code URL: https://leal.st/articles/what-changes-when-you-own-your-code Full text: https://leal.st/md/articles/what-changes-when-you-own-your-code.md Published: 2026-08-10 · Updated: 2026-08-10 Topic: Engineering We rebuilt leal.st from a site builder into our own code and measured the same 16 pages before and after. HTML per page fell from 254 KB to 59 KB, unique meta descriptions went from 1 to 16, H1 headings from 0 to 16, structured data blocks from 0 to 32, and 1,406 near-invisible elements went to zero. The builder was not slow: it painted faster and shipped fewer bytes. What it could not do was let us add the things agents read, like an llms.txt, a markdown mirror of every article and structured data we control. Owning the code is what turned each of those from impossible into an afternoon. ### Is Framer good for SEO? URL: https://leal.st/articles/is-framer-good-for-seo Full text: https://leal.st/md/articles/is-framer-good-for-seo.md Published: 2026-08-09 · Updated: 2026-08-09 Topic: Engineering Framer handles the fundamentals well: server-rendered HTML, fast global hosting, and editable titles and descriptions. Leal measured two failures on its own Framer site: animated headlines split into 860 near-invisible spans on one page, and a single meta description repeated across all 17 pages. Both are fixable without leaving Framer. --- ## Contact — https://leal.st/contact New projects, fresh ideas. Get in touch.
